Life at CIBC Capital Markets

Investing in our Communities and Corporate Giving is a Priority

CIBC’s community investment strategy is focused on three priority areas: Kids, Cures and Community.

This enables us to make a significant impact on key issues important across Canada, while still being responsive to local community needs. Our approach continues to support a deeper commitment to what matters to our clients, employees and communities. We care about:

  • Nurturing and educating Canada’s children and young adults so they can build a better future
  • Bringing hope and support to those affected by cancer and together finding a cure
  • The communities we live and work in, striving each day to make them stronger

Flagship Programs

Our employees and retirees demonstrate their volunteer spirit by generously sharing their time and talents with a wide variety of charitable and not-for-profit organizations through employee-led fundraising initiatives, as well as CIBC’s Employee volunteer program, where an employee can chose to volunteer at a charity of their choice and CIBC rewards the charity with up-to $500 in recognition of our employees volunteer efforts.

Some CIBC’s flagship programs include:

CIBC Miracle Day

Every year, on the first Wednesday in December, CIBC’s Capital Markets’ employees and participating CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors donate their fees and commissions to help kids around the world access vital support services and programs . Thanks to our clients who do business with us each year, CIBC Children’s Foundation and Miracle Day has raised over $100 million for charities across Canada and over $250 million globally since its inception.

The CIBC Children’s Foundation is a registered charity that administers the funds raised each Miracle Day. In 2018 $7.1 million was donated to over 570 charities globally. On December 4th, 2019, CIBC is celebrating its 35th year of helping kids rise above and we are thanking our clients, employees and charities, for being an important piece of CIBC Miracle Day for the last 35 years. You can help make a miracle happen. Contact one of our CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors or Capital Markets representative to trade with CIBC and invest in kids #CIBCMiracleDay #OneforChange

CBCF Logo Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure

The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure® is Canada's largest single day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, health education and awareness programs. Since 1997, CIBC employees have raised over $54 million for the cause. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime but thanks to the 82,000 people who participate in the Run and have fundraised over $462 million for the cause to date, there has been a 44% decrease in mortality rates.

This event unites an incredible collective of Canadians who are a force-for-life in the face of breast cancer and want to show their support. It’s an inspirational day that raises significant funds for CCS, the largest charitable funder of breast cancer research in Canada. CCS invests these dollars into ground-breaking breast cancer research, compassionate support services, trusted cancer information and advocacy on behalf of all Canadians. Join one of the 57 run sites across Canada on Sunday October 4th, 2020. #CIBCRunfortheCure #OneforChange
